Yamie Safdie Dije que no me iba a enamorar

YAMI SAFDIE Dije que no me iba a enamorar | Each song tells an experience

Yami Safdie is one of the new figures of the Argentine urban genre. A girl who knew from a very young age that her destiny was music, and that step by step is achieving it. This is evidenced by her debut album ‘Dije que no me iba a enamorar (I said I wouldn’t fall in love)’ and the wonderful song with Milo J, ‘El Bolero’.

What does ‘El Bolero‘ by Yami Safdie mean?

Our favorite song from Yami Safdie’s first album is this magnificent collaboration with a young Argentine rapper named Milo J, whose low pitched voice is hypnotic.

In Yami’s own words:

‘El Bolero (The Bolero)’ is a heart-wrecking story of heartbreak, it refers to missing someone like a curse, like a ghost that follows you everywhere.

Musically, the song is a fusion of a classic bolero with more modern rhythms. Perhaps because of that wonderful mix, it accumulates more than 9 million plays between YouTube and Spotify.

Yami Safdie and Milo J also released an acoustic version of  ‘El Bolero’, which is really worth listening to.

Each song tells an experience of love or heartbreak and is a world in itself. My wish with this album is that its listeners feel accompanied, that it is the soundtrack of their own stories.

Who is Yami Safdie? | The path to ‘Dije que no me iba a enamorar’

Yami Safdie has music in her genes, at the age of 3 years old she was already singing songs from Sleeping Beauty 👸, her favorite Disney movie.

  • Her friends asked her why she was singing all the time, Yami answered that for her it was normal, her body was asking for it.
  • So at the age of 9 she began her studies in singing and musical theater, studying music at the Conservatory during her adolescence.

When she finished school she saw in social media a way to express herself musically, which would be a very successful path.

Thus at the age of 19 he began to upload covers, first on Instagram, growing little by little to more than 700,000 followers and then in a much more dizzying way on TikTok, especially for his cover of the song from ‘Money Heist’, reaching 3 million audience.

  • In 2017 Yami decided to release the first song of her own called ‘Tan Fuerte (So Strong)’, a feminist song, as she defines herself.
  • The following year, 2018, she would star in the musical ‘YouMusicaLive‘ at the Teatro, in addition to releasing two more singles: Estoy Mejor (I’m better) and Summer Night, and an EP called ‘Covers‘.
  • In 2019 she continued to release singles, of which ‘No Me Digas (Don’t tell me)‘ stands out with more than 300,000 streams on Spotify.

Between 2020 and 2021, Yami begins to explore different musical styles with her releases: “Caminar Sola”, “Flashear”, “FC” and “Pa’ Quererme Así”.

The success in plays and streams led her to sign a record deal with Warner Music Argentina 📝, being “Como Si Na (Just Like That)” her first single of this new stage.

In 2022, Yami, in addition to continuing her studies in Performing Arts, began preparing her first album, which would see the light at the end of the year under the name Dije Que No Me Iba a Enamorar (I Said I Wasn’t Going to Fall in Love)‘, her biggest hit to date with more than 10 million streams. Especially thanks to 2 viral singles on TikTok: De nada (You’re welcome) and El bolero (The bolero).

The title of the album refers to a phrase that Yami said in her networks and that gave her great diffusion. It is like a manifesto of where she comes from and the connection with her followers, who are the reason for her growth.

During 2023 the artist will be presenting her album live mainly in her native Argentina.

  • Her goal is to be played in playlists and mainstream radios. You can bet with us that she will achieve it 👍

Lyrics in English | YAMI SAFDIE y MILO J 'El Bolero'

I know we said we weren’t going to talk to each other anymore.
But I have this situation that’s going on
And little by little it’s killing me
And I can’t find the solution

I’ve got a ghost that haunts me all day long
And that shows me your smile wherever I look
I can’t find a way to be free
Baby, what happened?

Oh, take this curse away from me, please
This one that keeps me, that keeps me thinking about you
And just when, just when I’m feeling a little better
Just then that memory of your taste attacks me again

At night I think, what happened to us?
We never spoke to each other again, what happened to you?
And I’d like you to come back so that this ghost
Leave me alone and start again

I saw you on the walls and on the faces of several women
I tried to replace your caresses, but I only broke a heart.
We were never the same, maybe good things and you gave me bad things
But even sailing the seas there won’t be anyone to get closer to you

And don’t think that I like being like this
Baby I’m not having a good time
And now they all look like you and your hair
The sky is gray now

I’ve tried to love others
But they don’t deserve it
Because as much as I hate it
I still see you in their eyes

I’ve tried to love others
But they don’t deserve it
Because as much as I hate it
I keep seeing you in their eyes

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
My love, have a little pity on me
I’m no good for nothing
I’m no good for nothing, since you’ve been gone

Oh, take this curse away from me, please
This one that keeps me, keeps me thinking about you
And just when, just when I feel a little better
Just then that memory of your taste attacks me again
Just then that memory of your taste attacks me again

Y poquito a poco me va matando

Me deje tranquilo y empezar otra vez

Nunca fuimos iguales, quizá bienes y me distes males

Ya he intento amar a otras
