Bouquet is the fifth studio album by American singer and songwriter Gwen Stefani. An album full of little gems of 70’s pop-rock, influenced by Nashville, near where she resides with her husband and Country star Blake Shelton 👩❤️👨
Who is Gwen Stefani?
Gwen Renée Stefani Shelton, was born in 1969 in California.
Gwen is especially known for being the vocalist and co-founder of the famous 90’s group, ‘No Doubt’. Among her hits are: Just a Girl, Spiderwebs, Hey Baby, It’s My Life, and especially ‘Don’t Speak’, from her 1995 album Tragic Kingdom.
- Don’t Speak is a breakup song. It reflects the end of her 7-year relationship with bandmate Tony Kanal.
- It is such a popular song, that even today, 30 years later, it can be heard every day on radio stations all over the world.
During the band’s hiatus, Stefani embarked on a solo pop career in 2004 with the release of her debut studio album ‘Love. Angel. Music. Baby’. It was a critical and commercial success with tracks such as What You Waiting For?, Rich Girl, Hollaback Girl and Cool.
It would be followed by ‘The Sweet Escape‘ in 2006 and ‘This Is What the Truth Feels Like’ in 2016, which reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.
In 2003 Gwen created her own clothing line under the name ‘L.A.M.B.’, later extending it with the ‘Harajuku Lovers’ line, inspired by the Japanese culture and fashion of which she is a professed lover.
Gwen has 3 children from her relationship with the also singer Gavin Rossdale with whom she married in 2002, divorcing in 2015. Same year she would start her current relationship with Blake Shelton, with whom she would marry in 2021.
- Gwen and Blake have collaborated on multiple songs: Go ahead and break my heart, If I’m honest, Nobody but you, Happy anywhere.
- They would also collaborate in 2017 when Gwen would release a Christmas album called ‘You Make It Feel Like Christmas‘ ☃️
In 2023 Gwen would receive the honor of having a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Stefani, who has sold over 60 million records worldwide, would release her fifth studio album ‘Bouquet‘ in 2024.

The album is a love letter to Blake, he’s my main inspiration. It would be weird if he wasn’t. I got married three years ago, got engaged the year before and have been writing (the album) for four years.

Gwen Stefani is in a sweet moment. With the joy of having found the love of your life, the well-deserved honor of being on the list of 100 most important female musicians of all time, and above all the pleasure of being able to take care of her 3 children. Gwen said that she composes and records only while they are at school, because the rest of the time she devotes to them and her husband, Blake.
Taking advantage of the momentum Stefani has released ‘Bouquet‘, an album with floral motifs, as evidenced by the titles of several songs: Marigolds (Marigolds), Empty Vase (Empty Vase), or Late to Bloom (Late to Bloom). You will also find a number of flower names scattered throughout the lyrics of each song 🌸🌼🌺
- The album, in Gwen’s own words, is inspired by all the things she listened to in her parents’ van on the way to church as a child.
The album opens with ‘Somebody Else’s‘, a sentimental track that combines typical Stefani Pop elements with country sounds more typical of her partner, Blake. Its lyrics describe the abandonment of a previous relationship.

It continues with ‘Bouquet‘, where Gwen is very proud to be able to carry her husband’s surname, ‘Shelton’. It’s a track of overflowing joy at finding the person you fit with like two pieces of a puzzle.
The central themes of the album are mostly about how finding love has changed Gwen’s life.
- In ‘Pretty‘ she tells Blake that she didn’t feel pretty until he started loving her.
- In ‘Empty Vase‘ Gwen confesses that she felt empty until Blake came along.
- In ‘Marigolds‘ she lies in a flowery field with Blake enjoying his.
- In ‘Late to Bloom‘ she looks back in disbelief that she never met Blake.
- In ‘Swallow my Tears‘, with a mix of Pop and Country Gwen confesses that she still has lows thinking about her past, but that he makes her smile again.
- In ‘Reminders‘ Gwen says that her love for Blake is a miracle.
- In ‘All Your Fault‘ she completely surrenders to Shelton. He drives her crazy, what can you do!
But the best part of the album comes at the end, when the long-awaited duet with her husband and Country star Blake Shelton, ‘Purple Irises‘, finally arrives. The song, which was originally written to be sung solo, talks about finding love again, after having had a hard time.
Bouquet is not a Country album, but it’s not a Pop album either, it’s simply a reflection of what Gwen is feeling now, healing and transition.
