RACHELLE BENTLEY Waking Daylight | Daughter, mother, lover, friend… Woman

Rachelle Bentley has a voice full of nuances, all of them displayed in her new single ‘Waking Daylight‘. An awesome track between Pop and New Age in which she reflects on the multiple roles we play in family, professional and social life.

Story behind ‘Waking Daylight

We spend a lot of time remembering, don’t we? Memories sometimes give us wings, but sometimes they weigh us down ⚖️

In ‘Waking Daylight‘, Rachelle Bentley remembers fragments of her life, reconstructing through them the woman she is now.

The song is full of symbolism as seen in the verse:

Waking daylight. Blackbird claims the night. Comes the sight. Back in December. Back in December. Another life.

The blackbird, according to the ancient Hopi culture is the connector between darkness and the true self. December is the month when the longest night gives way to the rebirth of life.

  • For Rachelle Bentley December is a very special month as both her mother and daughter were born then.

‘Waking Daylight’ is a musical journey underpinned by the sounds of a wonderful Hammond piano, nods to Madonna’s ‘Vogue’, and a clever chorus, sung by herself, that perfectly complements Rachelle’s main vocals on the bridge – a real treat!

The meaning of Waking Daylight is a game. ‘Waking’ means to be awake and aware. ‘Daylight’ is just that, daylight; so ‘Waking daylight hours’ refers to the hours that we live to the full while awake.

Rachelle Bentley 'Waking Daylight' Lyrics

Waking daylight
Waking daylight hours
Warm the soul
Got to remember
Got to remember
All she knows

Waking daylight
Waking daylight hours
Warm the snow
Got to remember
Got to remember
So long ago

And after all
She’d been a lover
Been another
She held to a mother
Just remember

And after all
She’d been a lover
Been another
She held to a mother
Just remember
Someone told her

Waking daylight
Blackbird claims the night
Comes the sight
Back in December
Back in December
Another life

And after all
She’d been a lover
Been another
She held to a mother
Just remember

And after all
She’d been a lover
Been another
She held to a mother
Just remember
Someone told her

Days remembering days
Days remembering days
Days remembering days
Days remembering days
Just remember

And after all
She’d been a lover
Been another
She held to a mother
Just remember

And after all
She’d been a lover
Been another
She held to a mother
Just remember

Rachelle Bentley 'Waking Daylight' Lyrics in Spanish

Horas de luz
Horas de luz
Calientan el alma
Tiene que recordar
Tiene que recordar
Todo lo que sabe

Horas de luz
Horas de luz
Calientan la nieve
Tiene que recordar
Tiene que recordar
Hace tanto tiempo

Y después de todo
Ella había sido una amante
Había sido otra
Se aferró a una madre
Solo recuerda

Y después de todo
Ella había sido una amante
Había sido otra
Se aferró a una madre
Solo recuerda
Alguien le dijo

Horas de luz
El mirlo reclama la noche
Llega la vision
Allá por Diciembre
Allá por Diciembre
Otra vida

Y después de todo
Ella había sido una amante
Había sido otra
Se aferró a una madre
Solo recuerda

Y después de todo
Ella había sido una amante
Había sido otra
Se aferró a una madre
Solo recuerda
Alguien le dijo

Días recordando días
Días recordando días
Días recordando días
Días recordando días
Solo recuerda

Y después de todo
Ella había sido una amante
Había sido otra
Ella se aferró a una madre
Solo recuerda

Y después de todo
Ella había sido una amante
Había sido otra
Ella se aferró a una madre
Solo recuerda
