SAFREE Ritual | Ancestral and earthly blended
Safree is no newcomer to music, as evidenced by the 10 albums she has released that have forged a style that fuses electronic and folk rhythms. Her new album ‘Ritual‘ is full of Latin American influence and rhythm, such as her magnificent track ‘Los Charcos‘, our EotW (Emotion of the Week).
Who is Safree?
Rosana Martínez chose ‘Safree’ as stage name to represent freedom (Sa-free), to be able to do what we want without anyone conditioning us 🌬️
Safree was born in 2004 as an independent urban music project, although it wasn’t until 2010, thanks to YouTube, that she began to become better known.
Safree is Spanish from Alicante, but the Latin public has always given her a lot of shelter, developing her musical career in Mexico and Peru.
After her successful album ‘Elements‘ in 2020, in 2023 we find her best album, ‘Ritual’, the perfect time to get to know Safree, if you don’t already 😆

Ritual’ has love as a common thread, but not as something cloying, but as self-love, love for the family, etc.

‘Ritual‘ is Safree’s tenth album, a red album, because that’s how the artificial intelligence told her that her music felt, red passion ❣️
With clear Latin American influences, as in the guapango of ‘Ay Mi Corazón’, and electronic bases as in ‘El Bolso‘, this project mixes the earthly, dark, electronic and fun part, with the ancestral, spiritual and reflective part.
Safree wanted to reflect this counterpoint, just like Dante’s Divine Comedy, which she says inspired her.
- In ‘Aquí me quedo (Here I Stay)‘ she tells us about her wedding vows, as Safree marries her partner in 2023.
- ‘White Lotus (Art II)‘, as the title says, is the second part of her song ‘Art‘ from 2021. In the first one she talks about the beautiful beginning of a relationship and in ‘White Lotus’, the reality check where not everything is so sweet.
- Safree has collaborated with the award winners for best flamenco album, Las Migas, on the magnificent cut number 5, ‘Raíces‘.

- Safree said that the track came out of a crazy songwriting session where she wanted to mix Gregorian chant with balladry and dembow.
- It’s a song about heartbreak that you can dance to.
