This is the case of this boy from Ecuador who, as it can’t be otherwise with new talents, has gone viral on Social Media. Today we talk about Alex Ponce, his debut album ‘Ser Humano (Human Being)‘ and his hit song ‘plan‘.
Who is Alex Ponce?
Alex Ponce is a 24-year-old (in 2023), born in Cuenca, Ecuador.
In a short period of time (he started in music in 2020), he has become very popular on social media (he has almost 1 million followers on TikTok), and has signed with a record label releasing his debut album, ‘Ser Humano‘.

Ponce learned to play 7 instruments before finishing high school, starting with piano and harmonica, like his idol Billy Joel.
As a teenager, pushed by his sister’s boyfriend, he tried out for The Voice. He was not selected, but the experience reinforced his love for music.

Alex says the women in his life, his mother and sisters, taught him to work hard and believe in himself, like another of his idols, Cristiano Ronaldo.

What is Alex Ponce’s ‘Ser Humano’ about?
Ser Humano consists of 13 songs that show the different stages of a love relationship: the break-up, the party, the relapse and the overcoming. The whole story is told in first person, based on his learnings and experiences, which he tries to express in a innovative way.
I want to tell stories that we have probably all lived through, from a different, original point of view that does not cross over into the vulgar, but maintains elegance. I would like the audience to feel identified when they hear one of my songs, but at the same time to think that they have never heard the experience described in this way before.
His songs invite us to take a bike ride 🚲 with a heart-shaped balloon looking for love, as in ‘Locos de Amor (Crazy in Love)’, to take a walk with the beach 🏖️ remembering a lost love, as in ‘Descomplicados (Uncomplicated)’.
The best song on the album, an opinion shared by Alex himself, is ‘plan‘, our Emotion of the Week.
The track tells us about a couple who weren’t clear about their plan, neither of them said what they expected from their relationship, whether it would be a one-night stand or much more. In this way, the boy ends up falling madly in love and she simply leaves, unknowingly, breaking his heart. The moral of the story, always say what “the plan” is.
