Seven Lions ft. Lights STOP THINKING (MiTiS remix)

LIGHTS ft. SEVEN LIONS Stop Thinking (MiTiS remix) | A journey of self-discovery

This trio represents the cutting edge of EDM (electronic dance music) today. ‘Stop Thinking‘ is an original track by producer Seven Lions, which featured synth-pop artist Lights. The musician, called MiTiS, listened to it, fell in love with it and remixed it, obtaining this marvellous tune.

What is ‘Stop Thinking’ about?

The song tells the story of a journey towards personal rediscovery 🤳🏼

The author, Seven Lions, describes the disappointment you feel when someone you are with doesn’t want you to change, but you need them to.

Lights sings how this situation pushes the couple to the limit, making separation the only way out.

This is what the protagonist of the song does, she puts distance between the two of them, finding herself again.

Who is Lights?

Valerie Anne Poxleitner is the Canadian synthpop artist known as Lights. Born in 1987 to missionary parents, she spent her childhood from Argentina to Jamaica.

She found in music the consistency she needed in her life, first learning to play guitar at the age of 11, then drums and piano.

At 13 he discovered the limitless possibilities that synthetic instruments offered, buying a small 8-track mixer.

In 2008 Lights released a first EP named after her ‘LIGHTS’, and soon her debut album ‘The Listening’, under her own label Lights Music Inc. which led to her winning a Juno award for best new artist of the year in 2009.

Lights has always been my nickname for starters and it does come out of my last name. It’s kind of what people have been calling me for so long and it totally explains what my music is about, it’s about lightening people’s moods and stuff. I’ve always loved writing L’s and my real name does not start with an L.”

In 2010 he released an acoustic EP titled ‘Acoustic’, and shortly followed with her second album, Siberia, to considerable success in Canada.

  • Her third album, Little Machines, was released in 2014, with their biggest hit to date, “Up We Go“.
  • The fourth album, Skin & Earth, would arrive in 2017 with a comic book series drawn and written by Lights.

Since then Lights has released several synth-pop singles and collaborations, such as ‘Dead End’ with MYTH. Plus a synthwave instrumental album in 2020 entitled ‘How to Sleep When You’re on Fire‘. Proceeds from this album would be donated to the Black Lives Matter Vancouver branch.

In 2021, Lights began releasing music under the pseudonym Lūn, a character that appeared in her comic Skin & Earth in 2017. As Lūn he released the EP ‘haha i like it’, in 2021, with the great track ‘Demolition’, and in 2022, ‘fuck ya go us’.

  • In parallel Lights released several hit singles such as: Hearts on Fire, Beside Myself, Last Summer or Prodigal Daughter.

This led to her 2022 album, ‘Pep‘, with the great song ‘Voices Carry’. In November that same year she released an album with the late ‘i-o’, Warehouse Summer.

She would later release the single ‘Stop Thinking’ with Seven Lions, which brings us to 2023 where she has released her new album ‘dEd’, and a remix of ‘Stop Thinking’ with MiTiS, which is our Emotion of the Week.

Seven Lions ft. Lights 'Stop Thinking' Lyrics

I’m sorry, I can’t find the old me
The one you met all those years ago
I’m sorry, I can’t be steady
I’ve been changing after all
Those nights alone

If I could think back
To when we were younger
To when I changed my hair
And changed my posture
Now you keep me around
Just so you don’t feel lonely
And if I think freely
I wonder if you’re ever really gonna know me
I wonder if you’re ever really gonna know me

Stop trying to hold on forever (ever)
Stop trying to belong together
Stop thinking you can make it better
Stop thinking
Stop thinking you can make it better
Stop thinking
Stop thinking you can make me better
Stop thinking
Stop thinking you can make me better
Stop thinking
Stop thinking you can make me better

You said all your life “I told you so”
And you scream into a pillow every time
I never needed you to love me
I just wanted you take me places
Didn’t need you to know me
That’s on a need-to-know basis

I hope in all your times of self-reflection
You never look back
That you don’t feel about love
How I felt about that this song is for you
When you drive in your car
And if you’re listening now
I hope you know who you are
I know you know who you are

Stop trying to hold on forever (ever)
Stop trying to belong together
Stop thinking you can make it better
Stop thinking
Stop thinking you can make it better
Stop thinking
Stop thinking you can make me better
Stop thinking
Stop thinking you can make me better
Stop thinking
Stop thinking you can make me better

Stop thinking you can make me better
Stop thinking you can make me better
Stop thinking you can make me better

Seven Lions ft. Lights 'Stop Thinking' Lyrics in Spanish

Lo siento, no puedo encontrar mi antiguo yo
La que conociste hace tantos años
Lo siento, no puedo ser constante
He estado cambiando después de todo
Esas noches solo

Si pudiera recordar
Cuando éramos más jóvenes
Cuando cambié mi pelo
Y cambié mi postura
Ahora me tienes cerca
