DIPLO, DOVE CAMERON, STURGILL SIMPSON Use Me (Brutal Heart) | Surprising blend of country and electronic music
Who is who in ‘Use Me’?
- Diplo: The popular American DJ is the author of the song
- Dove Cameron: The American actress and singer is the female voice of ‘Use Me’.
- Sturgill Simpson:The American country singer-songwriter and actor is the male voice of ‘Use Me’.
- Johnny Blue Skies: This is the alter ego used by Sturgill Simpson in the song. A cowboy who loves disco music.
- Thomas Wesley: It’s Diplo’s alter ego that he uses when he releases country music, as he does on his new album ‘Diplo Presents Thomas Wesley: Chapter 2 – Swamp Savant‘.
- Sean Penn: He is the actor who appears in the video clip and who replaced another actor who was going to shoot the video because he got sick the night before.
I took many journeys in my life and consulted a guru on the highest hill I could find in Florida (it was a pile of used cars at a landfill) and he told me to combine disco, classic country, pop, and swamp sauce.

What is Use Me (Brutal Heart) about?
Diplo had met Sturgill Simpson playing pool and drinking whisky in a bar in Tokyo a few years earlier. They forged a great friendship, which would lead them to create this work of art together.
- Sturgill is a highly regarded country artist in the United States and it’s no wonder with the impressive voice he possesses.
The song was joined by actress Dove Cameron, who became their muse and whose beautiful and mysterious voice fits ‘Use Me‘ like a glove.
The shimmering, disco-tinged song opens with Dove wondering if ‘Johnny Blue Skies‘ – you know, Sturgill’s alter ego in this song, played by Sean Penn in the video – is the brutal heart she’s been waiting for. In which case, she is available for him.
At which point Sturgill jumps in, with that deep, petrifying country tone, replying to Dove that if she needs him, she can count on him and use him.
- The track is about two people who desperately need each other, in a “brutal” way.
All this happens with an undeniable dance base, some brilliant violins, an electric guitar that sticks in your throat, all of them masterfully combined by Diplo 🤩

Diplo, Dove Cameron, Sturgill Simpson 'Use Me (Brutal Heart)' Lyrics
Are you the brutal heart?
Are you the brutal heart that I’ve been lookin’ for?
‘Cause if you’re lookin’ for love, you can look through that door
Hearts
Hearts that break the night in two
And arms that can hold you, that’s true
So use me
So use me
I don’t mind at all
I don’t mind that you only call me when you want
And I’m just glad you want me at all
And hearts
Hearts that break the night in two
And arms that can hold you, that’s true
So use me
So use me
Are we brutal hearts?
Are we brutal hearts that break the night in two?
‘Cause I just want this night with you
I don’t like the man (no, I don’t like the man)
I don’t like the man that I am (you are)
‘Cause I just want this night with you
So let’s take this night from black to blue
So let’s take this night from black to blue
So use me
So use me
HeyUse me
Use me
Diplo, Dove Cameron, Sturgill Simpson 'Use Me (Brutal Heart)' Lyrics in Spanish
