‘Meeting the Master‘ meaning
Meeting the Master is the first single from the new album by the heirs of classic rock, Greta Van Fleet.
On this album, the Americans wanted to build a universe of their own 🪐, with characters and motifs that unfold throughout the 10 songs on the record, connected with their previous albums such as ‘Battle at Garden’s Gate‘ and that they will continue to use on future albums.
With ‘Meeting the Master‘ we are introduced to the character of the “master”, the one who will guide us into the new world.
- It is the most straightforward song on the album, where we can fully enjoy the airy and thunderous vocals of vocalist Josh Kizska and the incredible guitar solos of his brother Jake Kizska, with a very pure rock structure.

‘Meeting the Master’ peers into an esoteric world heeded by the word of a wise teacher. Sung in the voice of a devout believer, and eventual group exclamation, the song details the love these fervent followers have for their teacher and their firm belief in his vision. It’s an exotic spiritual journey. A dark comedy that inevitably ends in chaos.

For their new album GVF (Greta Van Fleet) had a clear premise, they wanted to return to the sound they had when they were rehearsing in their garage at home 🏡
We wanted to make the album, exciting, raw and energetic.
To do that they went to a recording studio in Nashville that has a big room, perfect for capturing the energy of playing live.
- They focused on each instrument individually, without adding many layers of production.
This way the songs were born spontaneously, almost instinctively, reflecting exactly where Greta Van Fleet is as a band today.
The result is 10 songs that explore the duality of fantasy versus reality and the contrast between light and darkness:
