Who is H.E.R.?
Gabriella Wilson debuted in 2016 using the pseudonym H.E.R. which stands for ‘Having Everything Revealed’. She did so with a short R&B album that was widely acclaimed.
Since then her career has only grown and she has already released 3 albums: H.E.R. (2017), I Used to Know Her (2019) and Back of My Mind (2021). All have gone platinum.
Her biggest hit to date is ‘Could’ve Been‘, in addition to having won an Oscar for Best Original Song for ‘Fight for you ‘.

H.E.R. The Journey | Story behind
H.E.R.’s new song ‘The Journey‘ soundtracked ESPN’s telecast of the NBA Finals, of which she is a huge fan.
It’s an old-school ballad 🏫 in which H.E.R.’s voice can be appreciated in all its splendour. A track that shows strength and vulnerability at the same time. Something that Gabriella (HER’s real name) wants to bring to her new album.
- Coldplay, with whom she has opened for on their North American tour, have changed her mentality and way of making and listening to music. When watching Coldplay’s show, they don’t just play music, they create an experience, something H.E.R. wants to apply to her live show.
‘The Journey’, written by a songwriter and singer she worked with early in her career, Diane Warren, brought tears to H.E.R.’s eyes when she first heard it. It reflected the artist’s difficult year, including an ongoing legal battle with the label she was signed to at age 14.
H.E.R. has finally taken control of her career. She is no longer the 18-year-old girl who was driven by the industry, but as she told Rolling Stone:
I’m living by “What’s bad for the heart is good for the art”. I’ve been trying to live by that, go with how I feel, let the music speak, and bring people into my world.
H.E.R. doesn’t stop. Besides preparing her new album, she has a reggae album already recorded and the musical film ‘The Color Purple‘.
