BLANCO, Mina - Un briciolo di allegria

BLANCO, MINA Un briciolo di allegria | Wonderful Italian intergenerational encounter

When two generations of musicians come together, the results are usually very interesting, but ‘Un briciolo di allegria (A pinch of joy)‘ goes much further by bringing together the biggest Italian star of today, the twenty-something BLANCO, and the most successful artist in Italian history, the octogenarian MINA.

What is the meaning of ‘Un briciolo di allegria’?

It literally means ‘a little bit of joy or a pinch of joy’.

The song talks about those little moments of happiness that come from connecting with other people and understanding what really matters in life.

The song, which went straight to the Top 1 in Italy, is an intergenerational dialogue between Mina and BLANCO, a lively, deep, soulful conversation where you can appreciate that what lives inside everyone never gets old.

I am very happy with this duet, it is a great honour for me. Mina is the queen of Italian music and I respect her a lot. The fact that she decided to do a piece with me, offering me a great opportunity, immediately makes it clear how modern and attentive she is to today’s music.

BLANCO

How did the collaboration between BLANCO and Mina come about?

BLANCO (Riccardo Fabbriconi), born in 2003 in Brescia, is one of the most overwhelming Italian musical phenomena of recent years. He rose to fame in 2021 thanks to ‘La canzone nostra‘ and ‘Mi fai impazzire‘, both included in his debut album ‘Blu Celeste‘ achieving 54 platinum discs and selling out all his concerts.

  • In 2022 he would participate with his friend Mahmood in Eurovision with the song ‘Brividi‘.

When he was preparing his 2nd album ‘Innamorto‘, the record company offered him this fantastic song, ‘Un briciolo di allegria‘, telling him that he could sing it as a duet with whoever he wanted. The first name that came to BLANCO’s mind was that of the greatest Italian artist, Mina.

Mina made history in the 60s and 70s, selling over 150 million records in her career. She gave her last concert in 1978, leaving public life due to bronchopneumonia. The artist known as the Tiger of Cremona 🐅 would return to record music from 2001, but without appearing in public.

Now that she is over 80 years old, thanks to one of his nephews who is a great fan of BLANCO, she listened to his songs and accepts the proposal to collaborate.

The most curious thing of all is that they recorded their parts of the song separately and have never physically seen each other.

Be careful when you listen to the song or you’ll suffer the same as me… I can’t get out of my head when Mina sings “Ra-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa 😍

BLANCO and Mina 'Un briciolo di allegria' Lyrics

Ra-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa
Per un briciolo di allegria
Ra-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa

Ra-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa
Per un briciolo di allegria
Ra-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa

E non invecchia mai ciò che vive dentro noi
E non sbiadisce mai come foto Polaroid
Se non mi domando chi eravamo
Io non mi ricordo chi siamo
Per un briciolo di allegria
Ra-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa

BLANCO and Mina 'Un briciolo di allegria' Lyrics in English

In the middle of the avenue I played football
On the dirt road that raised me
Where the sky is burgundy, surrounded by green
Where God created expanses of nothing

If it is not sincere, if love is true you die inside
A pure feeling, no, has no future if I lose you
I would give my life, which is not infinite, for an honest price
But fortunately

That we found each other under a moonlight
Perhaps a little wrinkled from a story we had lived
A little later we were lying on a stone
With our hair in our hands like a pencil
I would write a poem
Ra-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa
For an ounce of joy
Ra-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa

All the insults you want
Won’t help if you can talk to me
And it’s hard to know how to distinguish
Love from madness, eh

If it’s not sincere, if love is true you die inside
A pure feeling, no, it has no future if I lose you
I would give my life, which is not infinite, for an honest price
But fortunately

That we found each other under a moonlight
Perhaps a little wrinkled from a story we had lived
A little later we were lying on a stone
With our hair in our hands like a pencil
I would write a poem
Ra-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa
For an ounce of joy
Ra-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa

And never grows old what lives inside us
And never fades like Polaroid photos
If I don’t wonder who we were
I don’t remember who we are
For an ounce of joy
Ra-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa
