Who are Laurenne & Louhimo?
Netta Laurenne was born in Tampere (Finland) and Noora Louhimo moved there as a child, where she still lives. The most curious thing of all is that moving in the same Rock and Heavy circles, they never crossed each other’s path in their youth.
Netta Laurenne has always been linked to music, whether with her solo albums, Lost & Found (2010) and Album A (2012), in theater, where she currently plays Whitney Houston, or with her recent band, Smackbound.
Noora Louhimo, on her side, is known for being the vocalist of the great Heavy Metal band, Battle Beast, with whom she has recorded 4 albums. She has also just released in 2021 a solo album of blues, rock and Country, called Noora Louhimo Experience.
So, you may be wondering, how did they come together?
Well, we have the damn pandemic to thank for that. Because of it many musicians have stopped their commitments, gaining time to rest, reflect and undertake new projects.
This is the case of these two rock divas. Both admired each other for their independent works, but they had never coincided until the Ecuadorian metal band Black Sun proposed them to collaborate on their song ‘Still Love’. At that moment they realized how similar their voices were. In fact, they joke that they themselves are not able to distinguish when one or the other sings 👩🏼🤝👩🏽
Anyway, there the thing stayed, until the COVID-19 hiatus encouraged Netta to propose to Noora the project ‘Laurenne / Louhimo‘, this one accepted immediately.
Thanks to this we have one of the best melodic metal albums of the last years, “The Reckoning“.

To shape this magnificent work, they counted on Thunderstone guitarist Nino Laurenne, who also happens to be Netta’s husband, who contributed to the song writing and recording.
The title of the album, ‘The Reckoning‘ came as well, because the concept behind the album is one of self-determination and self-knowledge ✊🏽
Noora and Netta explained it like this:
It means the reckoning with yourself… what have we done wrong and what have we done right and to grow from that
The whole theme in this album is that no matter what happens in our lives, we must stand up and fight for our rights and who we are and be the best friend to ourselves.

In this stunning record you will find 10 great songs full of riffs and catchy and powerful melodies. Critics say they are reminiscent of Judas Priest, which is also very good.
Maybe you are wondering how did these 2 declared feminists split the songs. It was a mathematical thing; they wanted the album to be exactly 50/50 and they were choosing phrases one by one until they got an equal split ➗
The best songs on The Reckoning are:
- Striking like a Thunder: Our favorite track for its melody and brutal rhythm, and that of course is part of the best of 2021.
- The Reckoning: Besides giving the album its title, it is also a clear sample of the classic spirit of the album. It speaks of defeating our demons before they defeat us.
- Hurricane Love: The only ballad on the album tells Netta’s personal story, so much so that it took her to write it the same time it took her husband Nino to make the meal 🙂
- Bitch Fire: It was the successful first single of the album, destined to empower us with drums that hook you from the beginning, and a powerful guitar that doesn’t let you escape. It reminds me of Painkiller by Judas Priest.

By the way, I’m sure you are wondering if there will be a tour or if they will release more albums. Laurenne and Louhimo have said that they don’t want to rush, but that they would be very happy if both things happened, because not only their voices match perfectly, but they have become great friends.

With this album, I wanted to capture the essence of classic heavy metal and hard rock and combine it with great melodies and lyrics that have value.
It was clear from the beginning, having two strong voices on the album, that this album was going to be full of power, energy, attitude, and emotion.
Louhimo:
My inspiration was definitely the thought of empowering and the songs giving a feeling of strength and sensitivity. And us interpreting the songs from our hearts and souls with full force, leaving no question about how passionate we are as vocalists and artists.
