TU OTRA BONITA La Pared | A rumba for indies

Tu Otra Bonita, is one of those groups that faithfully believe in what they do, that’s why they have been playing for 15 years and released 4 albums, masterfully mixing indie rhythms with pop or rumba, impregnating their lyrics with heartfelt stories. In 2023 they are at the best moment of their career, as you can see with their spectacular new single, ‘La Pared (The Wall)‘.

Story behind ‘La Pared‘ by Tu Otra Bonita

The band members are big fans of Bambino‘s song of the same name, so ‘La Pared (The Wall)’ is a tribute to that rumba that has influenced their music so much.

Between a fantastic Spanish guitar and some hand clapping, this sensitive, but at the same time danceable song about an impossible love unfolds.

The message is definitive: “There’s a wall that separates your life and mine, but I’m going to build a window to get to you” 🌄

I can’t think of a better way to celebrate music than with La Pared, our Emotion of the Week.

‘La Pared’ is a song that talks about the obstacles that exist in a relationship, about how difficult it is to achieve love. There are times when there is a wall between one person and another, and the song explores ways to overcome it.

Who is Tu Otra Bonita?

Tu Otra Bonita (Your Other Pretty One) was born in Madrid (Spain) in 2008 thanks to the initiative of bassist Pablo González and guitarist Félix Vigara, who decided to create a band that would mix psychedelic rumba with mestizo indie. That’s nothing! 🤣

In 2010 they were joined by Héctor Lacosta on vocals and Alberto Vallecillo on cajon drum, and began to play all over Spain (nowadays Pablo is no longer part of the band, so they are a trio).

  • Their evolution was gradual moving towards a funkier and more fun sound, which makes their concerts a party.

In 2013 they released their first album ‘Solitario hombre escoba (Lone broom man)’, which would be followed by ‘The Cortijo’ in 2016 and ‘¿Verdad o atrevimiento? (Truth or dare?)’ in 2018, although their leap to the general public would not happen until 2021 with their 4th album, ‘Crema (Cream)’, a gift for the senses.

  • The track ‘Alitas de Mar (Sea wings)‘ with Juanito Makandé would become his most listened to song with 15 million streams.

Their fifth will arrive in 2024, in the meantime their singles, ‘M’Enamorao (I fell in love)‘, ‘Y si no soy yo (What if its not me)‘, and above all La Pared (The Wall)‘, will give you that dose of energy you need to make your day better.

Tu Otra Bonita has earned its place in music through tenacity, perseverance and good music. It is the moment of fusion, of crossbreeding and of the poetry that fills all their songs.

The video is a curious ‘Videodancing Tutorial’, in which the band explains in a very sarcastic way how to dance ‘La Pared’.

Tu Otra Bonita 'La Pared' Lyrics

si me haces sentir

no te quiero olvidar
a mí me quiere matar

y qué quieres de mí
si quieres bailar agarra tu falda
y yo me dejo llevar estoy cerca de ti
te toco las palmas
y tú una ola del mar
que en tu libertad mojaste mi espalda
y yo que quería probar
os puedo jurar que no puedo olvidarla

la, la, la, la, la

Tu Otra Bonita 'La Pared' Lyrics in English

Let’s go!
There’s the wall that separates your life from mine
I loved you I couldn’t help it
we lost what was perfect between us
and now I think of you again
I’m dying of jealousy
I miss you
my soul is broken

and in the wall that separates your life and mine
I made a window through which I flew
you were waiting for me awake and like a light plane
I crashed into your skin
what do I have to do to you
if you make me feel
without you I can’t live

say what do you want from me
if you want to dance grab your skirt
and I let myself go I’m close to you
I touch your palms
you are a wave of the sea
that in your freedom you wet my back
and I wanted to try
I can swear to you that I can’t forget her

la, la, la, la, la, la, la

and I looked at the wall that separates your life and mine
when you told me it was made of paper
with a single finger I wrote an ‘I love you’
so that you remember me
I can’t stop
it’s so easy to say I won’t think of you

and I looked at the wall that separates your life and mine
because I didn’t see how beautiful your skin is
I’m dying inside
I tremble if I think that now I could lose you
it doesn’t stop hurting
I don’t want to forget you
It’s going to kill me

and say what do you want from me
if you want to dance grab your skirt
and I let myself go I’m close to you
I touch your palms
you are a wave of the sea
that in your freedom you wet my back
and I wanted to try
I can swear to you that I can’t forget her

la, la, la, la, la, la, la
