FLOYA

FLOYA Yuma | Debut album that everyone will be talking about

FLOYA releases their first album ‘Yume‘, a mix of modern rock and electronic music that has made the German duo internationally known from day one.

Who is FLOYA?

FLOYA is a duo formed in Germany in 2022 by Marv Wilder and Phil Bayer, who wanted to create a new musical fusion between the powerful sounds of rock and EDM (Electronic Dance Music) melodies.

Their first single ‘Wonders’, showed the great weapons of this duo, a strong electric guitar, catchy dance rhythms and a voice with a lot of personality.

After that came ‘The Hymn’, their biggest hit so far, which was even used in a televised American soccer game in Australia, making them known there.

  • They have performed with Siamese in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, as well as with Holding Absence on their European tour.

They closed 2023 with 140,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, which is only the beginning of a great career that will transform FLOYA’s lives.

FLOYA Yume | Analysis of their debut album

Yume, which means “dream” in Japanese, reflects the struggle of the members of FLOYA to find their place in music, after several individual failures. They explained:

Yume is a reminder to us that it’s never too late to achieve and reach for your goals.

Composed of 10 tremendous songs, FLOYA’s first album is a splendid way to make a name for herself:

  1. Stay: It is the most representative song of Yume for FLOYA because it is the one that best describes her identity. It fits in a natural way with EDM and other rock elements.
  2. Willows: The song is about that moment that can change everything. If you’re willing to give in.
  3. Wonders: A theme of positivity, of achieving the things you want. There is nothing that can stand in your way if your desire is really strong. Whatever it is you want in life, go for it, you will get it with discipline and endurance.
  4. Drift: Emotion of the Week of which FLOYA vocalist Phil Bayer explains:

I don’t think I’ve ever written a song this honest before. I’ve grappled with ambivalent emotions toward my career, to be completely transparent. There were moments when I doubted whether I could continue doing what I love. I turned my back on music for a while and, as a result, lost a significant part of my identity. Drift is about precisely that: dealing with ambivalence, overcoming doubts, and enabling you to continue doing what you love.

  1. The Hymn (El himno): It’s about compromise and letting go, but also about making peace with these concepts. There are times when you realize you can’t have everything you want, so you have to decide what to pursue and what to let go of. These kinds of things can be quite dramatic at times, but in the end these scenarios teach us about what’s most important.
  2. Weaver (Tejedor): This is a very personal song for FLOYA in which they come clean about the real demons that haunt almost every artist, including themselves. In the song they say that it’s almost impossible to completely get rid of your shadows, but for them they are almost necessary because of the emotion they provoke. Although that emotion is mostly hurtful, they have learned to use it to create things, it feeds them. As they say, it’s about finding and maintaining balance.
  3. Epiphany (Epifanía): This is the kind of song that invites you to look inward, to reflect on yourself. It’s meant to get lost in. So just lay back, close your eyes and take the journey 🛫
  4. Florescent (Fluorescente): FLOYA said they were predestined to write this song. As their vocalist Phil confessed, he’s spent half his life worrying about what kind of things might happen to him if he took some “unnecessary” risk. The consequence is that you miss out on a lot of potentially good things, as happened to him. He took a big step out of his comfort zone when he met fellow FLOYA member Marv Wilder, who gave him the confidence to open up. Now he says he feels like he’s really living his life.
  5. Lights Out (Apagar las luces): They wrote it in a Norwegian forest in 2020. It’s the first song they wrote together as a duo.
  6. Yume (Sueño): Saying goodbye is never easy – Most of us have lost someone and, if we haven’t already, it’s a reality we will all face at some point. Coping with life without our loved ones is difficult, regardless of their age or circumstances…. Enjoy each day. Say I love you. Take one more picture. That’s what this song is about.

As you can see, Yume sums up much of Marc and Phil, FLOYA’s life over the past few years, and is just the beginning of a career that will go as far as they want it to go.

FLOYA 'Drift' Lyrics

I don’t wanna talk about it anymore
I made up my mind, you know I tried to make it work before,
But it caused me so much pain, put out my flame,
Didn’t know how much more I could take

But it’s calling me
I’m fighting my doubt cause I can’t
live without it

It’s calling me
back down from the clouds where I’m hiding the truth from me and
you

Roaming through the city, looking for a sign
I feel like I’m swimming in a flood of all these neon lights
And I hear a sound it’s circling ‘round my head
Warning me that I can’t play pretend

It’s calling me
I’m fighting my doubt cause I can’t live without it
It’s calling me from deep in my soul, how could I just ignore this
It’s what I need despite all that I’ve lost, I know how much it cost me
It’s calling me back down from the clouds where I’m hiding the truth from me and you

It’s calling me
I’m fighting my doubt cause I can’t live without it
It’s calling me back down from the clouds where I’m hiding the truth from me and you

It’s calling me
I’m fighting my doubt cause I can’t live without it
It’s calling me from deep in my soul, how could I just ignore this
It’s calling me
It’s calling me

Oh, It’s calling me

Me llama

Me llama

Me llama

Me llama
Me llama
Me está llamando

Oh, me está llamando
