Emelie Hollow’s journey in music

Born in 1998 in Vinterbro, Norway, Emelie Hollow released her first song at the age of 12 after winning a radio contest.

She grew up surrounded by music, learning to play the piano and cello at a very young age, as well as singing in a choir.

• As a Swiftie, i.e. an avowed fan of Taylor Swift, she was inspired by her to start composing with the same rawness and honesty.

For several years, Emelie Hollow was in the background, writing for others, until she appeared as a guest vocalist on Alan Walker’s smash hit ‘Lily‘. She also composed the song ‘Fallen Angel‘ with which Norway participated in Eurovision 2021.

In 2021 Emelie would take the final step by releasing her brilliant first solo album, ‘Half the Story‘, to great success in her home country.

Emelie has always written as a therapy, in fact, ‘Half the Story‘, explained in detail the break-up with her partner. Things would change for Emelie with her new partner, which inspired her to create ‘Solitude’ in 2023, an album about love and the fear of losing it 😒

The best songs in Solitude

I confess that I absolutely love this Norwegian’s voice 😍, it has a warmth and closeness that feels like she’s singing just to you by a campfire on a snowy day.

As a whole the album has a slow pace, starting with a soft vocal on the beautiful song ‘If You Go‘. It quickly shifts into a mid-tempo groove that shines brightly:

• Take My Love: Our favourite Solitude song and our Emotion of the Week.
• Please Don’t Give it Away: Almost feels like a continuation of the previous ‘Take My Love‘.
• You’re So Go To Me: A fantastic song celebrating love with a chorus that invites you to turn up the volume and dance with your eyes closed and the breeze in your face. Emelie Hollow’s favourite song, by her own admission.

‘Solitude’ also has several whispery songs, with almost no instruments, highlighting Emelie’s beautiful voice:

• A Love Like This Pt.1: A whisper which continues in its second part ‘A Love Like This Pt. 2‘.
• How Can You Love Someone Like Me: Emelie doesn’t understand how a giant boat can float on water, nor how a fantastic boy has fallen in love with her. She sings it all alone with an acoustic guitar.
• I Don’t Believe It: Our favourite of the slower songs. The chorus is fantastic.

‘Solitude’ is a top pop album and Emelie Hollow is a very talented singer-songwriter, who is sure to explode at some point with a song that will make her an internationally famous artist.
